I grew up on Nintendo, and I'm still a big fan to this day! The Switch era in particular has been incredible, and we've had some amazing releases and games.
Every now and again, my hype for a game gets too much to contain, and I have to make a video to share my thoughts with the world! So far, it's mostly been speculation about Splatoon 3, updates and ideas on how to improve Animal Crossing New Horizons, some game mechanics ideas for Pokemon Legend's Arceus, and hype for Monster Hunter Stories 2 launching on Switch.
Even though a bunch of these are speculation about things that are now out, I still think they all have a lot of good stuff that inevitably didn't make it into the games, so are definitely still worth watching! I also eerily manage to predict the future not once, but TWICE with my Splatoon 3 plot predictions, and Animal Crossing update ideas - seriously, it's wild how close I was. If Nintendo wanna hire me, I'm open to offers! haha
Pokemon Legend's Arceus - "Dynamic design" ideas
3D pokemon games have been in a weird spot for a while now, and people often say it's because there's too many Pokemon for Gamefreak to work with. HOWEVER, I think a lot of this could be solved by using what I call "Dynamic Design". Setting each Pokemon with various tags for likes and dislikes, assigning various behaviours to those tags, and then let them interact with the world dynamicly!
Animal Crossing New Horizons - How to fix villagers!
Like many of us, I have spent a LOT of time in ANCH, and it's a great game. But one thing that bugs me, is villagers start to get a bit "samey" after a while. I talk about how future games could use the existing tags and traits that villagers ALREADY HAVE, to make each villager more unique. Are they a Virgo Hamster with a taste for Punk furniture? Let's work with that!
Animal Crossing New Horizons - We need a Creative Mode!
ACNH is more of a "dollhouse" than any previous game in the series, and that's great! Buuuttt in a lot of ways it's roots get in the way of letting you design your island freely. I made some elaborate mock-ups of what a "creative mode" could look like in animal crossing, as well as other Quality of Life additions I want to see! Spoilers, I pretty much pitched the entire of Harv's island before it existed.
Splatoon 3 - Writing the entire plot
So it turns out I can see into the future, and I predict the entire Splatoon 3 plot before the game comes out. Okay, I didn't get EVERYTHING right (I still think Mecha-Grizz would have been awesome), but DANG IS IT CLOSE. I made a whole bunch of art for this video in the Splatoon style, which was really fun. Other ideas that (sadly) didn't make it into the game are Salmonids replacing Octotroopers as the main singleplayer enemies, and Salmonlings (my love) becoming real playable characters.
Splatoon 3 - Features we need!
Once again casually predicting the future with decorations, a music player, and custom winning-match emotes. Alongside that, lots of cool things that didn't get implemented, like glitter ink, a detailed photo mode, and club/gang relationship rankings with different brands to get cool merch and stuff. Splatoon 4 devs, there's still time!
Splatoon 3 - drawing people's ideas
This was a nice fun video where I decided to talk through and mock up some of the wild ideas that other people had been sharing in my comments. Have you ever wanted to play as a Sanitised Inkling? Do you think Mr Grizz could secretly be the spirit of the mysterious Professor who froze Judd? All that, and more are discussed!
Monster Hunter Stories - They're good games!
I made this in the lead up to the release of MHS 2 on the Switch, because I expect a lot of people probably missed the first game on the Nintendo 3DS. Both Stories 1 and 2 are awesome games, that I recommend to anyone who's a fan of monster-catching/training type games. I'd never gotten into the Monster Hunter series before this game, because it felt kind of overwhelming, and you usually have to murder all the monsters. But give me a game where I can hatch and BEFRIEND all the monsters, grind and combine them to get special combat traits and COLOURS? And they're called MONSTIES (they're a monster, AND your bestie!)?? Well, I'm in.
